Acadia National Park Hiking

Best Hiking in Maine!

We love Acadia National Park hiking and so will you. When you're planning a hiking vacation, keep in mind that some of the very best hiking in Maine can be found at Acadia.

Acadia National Park Hiking Trail Peak

In our opinion, Acadia National Park has some of the finest hiking available in the US. Yes, it's one of the smallest national parks, and yes, it's true that you won't find many particularly long trails. No, you can't really get into the "wilderness" and backpack overnight. So, if hiking in Maine wilderness is what you seek, then and Acadia hiking vacation might not be right for you.

But... you can do some wonderful day hiking, no matter your ability or how much time you have. Of course, we recommend that you dedicate several hours each day to Acadia National Park hiking as we do, because that is hands down the best way to "get to know Acadia," but we do understand that not everyone loves to hike as much as we do.

So, if you only have an hour or two to explore Acadia hiking trails, you might try a leisurely stroll around Jordan Pond on its mostly flat wooded trails. Or for more thrills (or a break from Sand Beach), speed up the steep Beehive Trail and back down.

But, if you have more time and the inclination, then we encourage you to try one of our favorite Acadia hiking trails. We've set up a 5-star rating system for the trails we describe here. Of course, you may not agree... but our experience is what we offer here to guide you!
