Acadia Through the Seasons

Acadia Summer to Winter in Acadia NP
It's All Good!

Acadia through the seasons is always beautiful, and it's a totally different experience to do winter in Acadia NP, versus a summer vacation at Acadia.

Acadia Through the Seasons is Always a Treat

Most people outside of New England think of Acadia as a summer vacation destination. Just getting there during other seasons, can be challenging, depending on the weather. And of course, many of the lodging spots and dining locations are closed during Acadia's "off season."

But what many people don't realize is that you can experience Acadia NP year round... all through the seasons. How you access the park and experience it may vary, as well as the number of options you'll have.

But if you want to see what winter in Acadia is like (or spring or fall), then you can. Here's an introduction; you can click the links to get into the details...

Overview of Acadia Through the Seasons

Acadia National Park is open all year, at least partially. But weather changes during the various seasons can be significant, so plan your trip wisely.

Winter in Acadia

winter in acadiaIf you are able to get to Mount Desert Island in the winter, then rare scenes of beauty await you. Though not every part of the park is accessible, the one-way coastal road is open, as is one of the access roads to Jordan Pond. Many winter sports may be done in Acadia during the winter. You can even go camping! Read more...

Acadia Blooms in the Spring

spring in acadiaThough the Park Loop Road remains closed until mid-April most years, spring can be another wonderful time to visit the park, as trees begin to bud and spring flowers to bloom. Spring in New England can still be cold, blustery and rainy, but you won't face many crowds! Read more...

Summer in Acadia

summer in acadiaOf course, summer is prime time for visiting Acadia, and it's when we always go. Everything is open and the weather is the warmest it'll be all year, but there is a downside too... crowds. Still, if you want to be outdoors, have access to all the lodging/dining options and get there without too many challenges, then summer in Acadia may be right for you. Read more...

Autumn in Acadia

autumn in acadiaI don't care where I am; I love being outdoors in the autumn! If you go to Acadia in the fall, you won't be disappointed. With so many trees on the island, fall foliage is a sure bet to please. Crisp temps and smaller crowds add to the pluses of visiting Acadia NP this time of year. Read more...

It is our dream to experience Acadia through the seasons (all of them) before we die. How about you? What is your favorite season in Acadia NP?
