The attraction of Acadia National Park lies mainly in its wide variety of outdoor activities. There are always Acadia National Park attractions waiting for you...
Our two favorite activities whenever we go to Acadia are first, hiking, and second, biking, both of which we've covered thoroughly in other sections of the site.
But, there is so much more to do than that!
That's truly one of the best things about Acadia. The terrain runs from rugged, rocky coast, to deep forests, to marshland, to pure mountain lakes to high rocky promontories, and the outdoor recreational opportunities are just as varied.
You can kayak on the ocean/bay outside of Bar Harbor or in one of the many lakes in Acadia. Or maybe canoeing is more your style? The more adventurous might like to try rock climbing, as we did one summer.
Those who like a little quieter kind of vacation may enjoy lounging on one of Acadia's sandy beaches. Or, perhaps a leisurely stroll down one of the carriage roads on the back of a sturdy steed?
One thing is certain, almost any activity you can think of is available somewhere in Acadia or the surrounding towns. You will never be bored!
