Of course, when my girls were very little, I tended to steer towards more family-friendly eating places. :)

• Reservations... It seems that fewer restaurants are accepting them all the time, but do check and see if they're recommended. If you just show up at prime time for a very popular restaurant, you could end up waiting an hour or more to be seated. Some restaurants allow you to call ahead and get on the waiting list.

Those are just a few of the things to consider. If you plan to bring young children to a fine dining restaurant, you may want to be sure they're welcome, or show up early in the evening.
