Bar Harbor Fine Dining
Options for Fine Dining in Bar Harbor
Bar Harbor fine dining offers up quite a few options, despite the fact that the town of Bar Harbor is quite casual. star5112/FlickrIf you're looking for a more formal, more sophisticated dining experience in Bar Harbor, then this page is for you. Whether you want world cuisine, health-conscious fare or gourmet presentation, you can find it here. Featured Bar Harbor Fine Dining OptionsThe following restaurants are some of the most well-known and loved restaurants in the Acadia/Bar Harbor area. Eden Vegetarian Cafe78 West St, Bar Harbor, ME 04609 ♦ 207) 288-4422 http://www.barharborvegetarian.com/This is THE vegetarian restaurant in the area, extremely popular according to reviews we found scattered around the Web. Eden is chef-owned, and uses only local and organic plant food. The restaurant is small, so be sure to make reservations and remember they close earlier than some Bar Harbor fine dining spots, around 9 PM. There are harbor view tables, and it's open only seasonally. One interesting fact... All proceeds from the last night of the season go to a local, animal-based charity. Fish House Grill at Harbor Place1 West Street, Bar Harbor, ME 04609 ♦ 207-288-3070 http://fishhouse-grill.com/This restaurant has had a presence in the Bar Harbor area since the early 90's. Its present location is right next to the Bar Harbor town pier. Specializing in fresh caught seafood and oysters, clams, and mussels, they offer award-winning fare and great service. The Fish House Grill has a daily lobster bake and you can sit both indoors and outdoors on the water. If you've eaten there, please offer your review, won't you? Galyn's Restaurant and Galley Lounge17 Main Street, Bar Harbor, ME 04609 ♦ 207-288-9706 http://www.galynsbarharbor.com/Galyn's is another waterfront area restaurant with 5 dining rooms on 2 floors and a pub-like Galley Lounge. Specializing in fresh American fare including steak, lobster, and fresh fish, the restaurant is housed in a historic building that may once have been a speakeasy and gambling casino in the distant past. Reservations are accepted and if you just want a light meal or a few cocktails for Happy Hour, the Galley Lounge will accommodate you. The restaurant has served up delicious Bar Harbor fine dining experiences to visitors since the mid-1980s. We've gotten a couple of great reviews of Galyn's from our visitors: Guinness and Porcelli's191 Main Street, Bar Harbor, ME 04609 ♦ 207.288.0030 http://www.guinnessporcellis.com/This restaurant, which is open 6 days a week, year round, offers fine Italian cuisine, from appetizers to soup/salad to traditional Italian entrees. Prices for entrees range from $15.95 to $31.95, and they have an all Italian wine list that includes over 200 wines. Wondering about the name? Their website says they are "Combining Irish hospitality with the Flavors of Italy"... If you've eaten there, please feel free to offer your review. Havana Restaurant318 Main Street, Bar Harbor, ME 04609 ♦ 207.288.2822 http://www.havanamaine.com/This restaurant offers "American fine dining with a Latin twist." Their Cuban-American cuisine is sophisticated and their service is top notch. They pride themselves on their fresh, locally grown ingredients, including organic items. They say, "Seafood, lamb and meat dishes are flavored with intelligence and respect." Also, their menus change frequently, though they are not open during the off-season (winter), like many of the restaurants in Bar Harbor. You can read a visitor's review of Havana here, or... if your own Bar Harbor fine dining plans included Havana, please feel free to offer your review. La Bella Vita Ristorante55 West Street, Bar Harbor, ME 04609 ♦ 207.288.5033 http://www.theharborsidehotel.com/dining/index.aspxThis restaurant kind of bridges the gap between fine and casual dining with its Italian Trattoria atmosphere and design. Italian entrees, gourmet pizza, and antipasti fill their menu, which is available for all 3 meals, in season. Other features are a wood-fired brick oven, Italian wine bar and views of the harbor. Oh, and the restaurant is located in the Harborside Hotel. If you've been there, please share your review with our readers. Maggie's Restaurant6 Summer Street, Bar Harbor, Maine 04609 ♦ 207.288.9007 http://www.maggiesbarharbor.com/ This "well-kept secret" on a back street in Bar Harbor offers some of the best food in town. Starting life as a fish market, it morphed into a restaurant back in the 1970s and is still run by Maggie herself. Specializing in fresh caught fish/seafood and home-grown organic produce, they offer bistro-style fine dining (French style). Despite the elegance of the food, however, they have a relaxed and warm ambiance. Check out this review of Maggie's Restaurant
