Eagle Lake Bike Loop

One of the Most Scenic Acadia National Park Carriage Roads

The Eagle Lake bike loop traverses one of the most beautiful sections of the Acadia National Park carriage roads system that you'll ever ride.

Eagle Lake is the largest lake in Acadia and you can ride carriage roads all the way around it. This is the first Acadia biking trail we did on the carriage roads and we weren't disappointed.

Start Here...

Walk your bike down the footpath to go under Route 233 and turn left at the sign marked #6. The first couple of miles are pretty flat, so enjoy the view while you can! At the #7 sign, turn right (this is almost at the far end of Eagle Lake from where you started).

Then, Start Climbing...

Signpost along the carriage roadAfter that, you'll start to climb gradually but steadily as you round the very tip of the lake and start to move away from it for a bit.

Look for the #8 sign as you ride... that's where you'll continue to bear right back toward the lake.

It's all downhill from here! Just continue back to your starting point at post #6. You can also do this bike trail in the opposite direction, if you prefer.

Make It Longer...

It's easy to pair this loop with other intersecting ones, such as the "Premier Lakes Loop" we outline here. The numbered signposts at every junction make it fairly easy to navigate around the park!
