An Acadia Biking Route to Love
Premier Lakes Loop
The premier lakes loop we love is the best Acadia biking route, in our opinion.
There are many ponds and lakes throughout Acadia National Park. I call this one the "Premier Lakes Loop" because we get to see our 3 favorite bodies of water: Jordan Pond, Bubble Pond and Eagle Lake.
It was suggested the first time we ever biked in Acadia by the guy in the bike shop who rented us bikes and provided a map. Turned out great... so we always recommend this one!
Start at Eagle Lake
To do this Acadia biking trail, park at the Eagle Lake lot on Route 233 (as described above), but instead of turning left at the #6 post, go right.
Keep straight at post #9, traveling down the shore of Eagle Lake.
Keep going to post #8. At post #8, take a right turn, then a left not too much farther on at post #10.
Then... Head Toward Jordan Pond
This is sending you towards Jordan Pond, and indeed you'll soon see it far below you as you pedal along the base of a huge boulder slide.
Be sure to stop and have some fun climbing up the boulders like we do! (This is also a great spot for a lunch break or at least a snack, as long as it's not a super hot day - no shade.)
Towards the far end of Jordan Pond, look for post #14 and stay to the left, continuing on to posts #15 and #16, always staying left.
NOTE: You may want to stop off at the Jordan Pond House for some shopping, a potty break or to have sour lemonaid and popovers with ice cream on the lawn. To get there, just follow the signs!
And Finally... Bubble Pond
Continue on past post #16 for a bit, watching for post #17, where you'll continue to stay left. From here, you'll be winding through the Acadia mountains for a while, but will eventually come to the shores of Bubble Pond, which you'll follow for its entire length.
At the far end of Bubble Pond, you'll cross the Park Loop Road, so be careful. Watch for post #7 just past the road crossing and turn right. You'll now be heading up the shore of Eagle Lake back towards your car at post #6.
