Travel to Bar Harbor &
Acadia NP

What You Need to Know
About Getting There

Travel to Bar Harbor from most areas isn't hard. But I wouldn't say it was easy to get to Acadia NP either...

In years past, we always drove to Acadia, because we wanted to bring camping gear and because we only lived 11 or 12 hours away. Still a lot, I know, but not far enough to justify a more expensive option.

But, although it's not super easy, there ARE other ways to get there too. Let's look at some other options for travel to Bar Harbor and the park...

take a bus to acadiaBar Harbor Bus Service
One way to get there is on the bus. It's not elegant or fast, but it is one of the less expensive ways to travel to Bar Harbor.

fly to bar harborFlying to Bar Harbor
Flying to Bar Harbor is more fun, but it might take a number of connections to accomplish, as there is only a small regional airport that serves the area, and even that may not last much longer.

Taking a Train to Bar Harbor
Taking a train might be fun too. But it's not very direct, since the closest train station is in Bangor, 30 miles away.

Another way to travel to Bar Harbor—as mentioned above—is to drive. Explore our driving to Acadia page here.
